2022 Domaine Jean Foillard Fleurie
Jean Foillard, one of Kermit Lynch’s famed “Gang of Four,” helped revolutionize Beaujolais, proving the region’s potential beyond the fleeting charm of nouveau wines. Guided by Jules Chauvet’s natural winemaking principles, Foillard's Morgon is a revelation: deep, structured, and age-worthy. This 2020 cuvée brims with fresh hay, wild herbs, cranberry, and strawberry, grounded in the earthy essence of the Côte du Py. The velvety texture and mineral backbone remind you that true Beaujolais, free of synthetic interventions, can rival the finest Burgundy. A wine that tastes like home—pure, complex, and timeless.
Vinous
The 2022 Fleurie has a beautifully defined nose with wonderful mineralité like Foillard's other cuvées, surfeited with energy. There’s real purity and panache. The palate is medium-bodied with a touch of mulberry on the entry and fine depth, lightly spiced with a vibrant and persistent finish tinged with curry leaf. This is a Fleurie from the top drawer. Excellent.
