2018 Girolamo Russo 'A'Rina' Etna Rosso
Girolamo Russo farmed vineyards on the slopes of Mt. Etna for decades, never bottling his own wine. His son Giuseppe began bottling under the family name after Girolamo passed away. ‘A Rina’ is an earthy and brightly, red-fruited Nerello Mascalese based blend. You'll find wonderfully rustic charm throughout this wine. Opening with aromatics of earth, cherries, and tobacco - there is a distinct volcanic vibe here. Vibrance and harmony in the glass, this is a captivating wine to enjoy as the sun sets and offers you views of a lava-colored sky.
James Suckling
Lots of earth on the nose, as well as notes of dried sour cherries and flowers. Medium-to full-bodied with silky, fine and lightly firm tannins. Flavorful finish with lots of sour-fruit character. Drinkable now, but better after another year or two in bottle.
