2018 Corley Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
This is a deeply extracted, rich, and robust wine. It is bursting with black cherry and blackberry aromas, with hints of cocoa and coffee. The palate is rich and shows an immediate presence, as the attack and midpalate are robust and bold. Very well structured and polished. The tannins are big, but round and well-resolved and quickly round out what is a long, lingering finish. This wine will age gracefully for 20+ years.
With 360 years of family history as farmers from Virginia, Jay Corley and his family set out to stake a claim in the growing California wine industry in the late 60’s. They found a plot of land in the Oak Knoll district which was suitable for both warm and cool climate varietals. Today, the second generation is starting to take full stride. All three of Jay’s sons oversee the business and are proudly carrying the torch from their father’s legacy. Son Chris Corley makes the wines.
