The whiskey itself is a blend of American and Canadian rye, with each ingredient finished separately in Martinique Rhum Agricole casks, apricot brandy casks, and Madeira barrels, respectively. Bright fruity esters build a perfumed nose of tropical notes kept in check by the spicy and herbaceous rye. The palate is sweet and juicy. A splash of water brings out the Madeira notes and adds a little candy to the fruit. Unctuous, with sandy tannin and delicate astringency, this is a unique take on a familiar spirit just begging you to slow down and savor each sip.
